Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has condemned a comment made by the lead pastor of Gentle Nation Church in Abuja, Femi Lazarus, on ladies’s menstrual cycles.
Twinny News experiences that Lazarus came below heavy backlash after a video from regarded as one of his sermons surfaced online.
Within the clip, he suggested that ladies’s temper swings correct through menstruation weren’t induced by biology but by their angle.
“You are not the predominant lady to witness your interval, so your menstruation just isn’t the difficulty. I even have never seen anyplace in the Bible any lady bitch about menstrual wretchedness. You are simply not a mute individual,” he talked about.
The commentary sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians accusing the pastor of being insensitive to ladies’s experiences.
Reacting on Instagram on Wednesday, Yvonne condemned the preacher’s comment, urging males to discontinuance making assumptions about issues they’ve never skilled.
She wrote, “The day gone by I saw a trending video of a clergyman seemingly trivialising menstrual wretchedness.
“When you’ve never skilled the hormonal changes that ladies wade through correct through their sessions, ovulations and being pregnant, please don’t comprise dauntless statements about stuff you haven’t skilled. Men please be kind.”
While many agreed with Yvonne, some customers defended Pastor Lazarus, claiming his words had been taken out of context.
An Instagram user, Angie Joseph, wrote: “He wasn’t trivializing menstrual wretchedness. Kindly eavesdrop on the sermon to relish his context. My cramps are so injurious that infrequently I discontinuance up in the medical institution, but that doesn’t comprise me a mannerless individual.”
